The World Social Forum is to date the largest gathering of Social Movements and Civil Society Organisations in the world “opposed to neoliberalism and to domination of the world by capital and any form of Imperialism, and are committed to building a planetary society directed towards fruitful relationships among Humankind and between it and the Earth”. It is an “open space-process for encounters”, where thousands of Onerganisations- Peoples Movements, NGOs, Research and Advocacy Groups“.have met and shared experiences, built networks, evolved strategies together.
In Asia, in 2004, the WSF was organised in Mumbai, and Karachi organised one part of the Polycentric WSF in 2006. There was a hiatus in the social forum process in Asia for a long period thereafter although Asians participated in WSF events and in the International Council of WSF.
The Asia Pacific Social Forum (an online event) will be on 18th -20th February 2022. All the activities in the program are open for participation of organisations from all parts of the world. And the program of the event is built bottom up, all activities are proposed in a self organized way by participating organizations
